Paul Gershon is a Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology & Biochemistry, School of Biological Sciences, University of California Irvine. Dr. Gershon earned his PhD in the UK and completed postdoctoral fellowships at the Animal Virus Research Institute, Pirbright (UK) and at NIAID/NIH in the lab of Bernard Moss. The Gershon lab's historical interest had been poxvirus molecular biology. Current work involves the molecular structure of Vaccinia virus. Dr. Gershon also has an interest in protein mass spectrometry, and works also at the interface of protein mass spectrometry and virology in various incarnations.
