The Marsden lab is focused on research involving viral persistence and pathogenesis. Dr. Marsden has an undergraduate Bsc (Hons) degree in Medical Microbiology and Ph.D. in Molecular Virology from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, UK. He undertook postdoctoral training at UCLA and subsequently served as a faculty member in the UCLA Department of Medicine, division of Hematology/Oncology. During this time, he developed a research program that utilizes a range of model systems (including humanized mice) to study HIV latency and advanced new HIV cure approaches. Dr. Marsden currently has appointments in both the UCI Department of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics and Department of Medicine (Division of Infectious Diseases).
