Dr. Forthal has been working on viral immunology for over two decades, including as head of a laboratory focused on antibody responses to HIV-1 and Dengue virus. Dr. Forthal has received continuous funding support from NIH, and has served as mentor for research and clinical trainees in research projects, and is currently advisor for a TGE graduate student, Thomas Caldwell. He currently has an NIAID proposal under review to examine Anti-nucleocapsid antibodies in the pathogenesis of COVID-19.
