2nd Annual Career Workshop

“Biomedical Science Careers in the Private Sector”

On October 22, 2018, over 80 faculty, staff, students and postdocs joined us at the Cove at UCI Applied Innovation for our 2^nd annual career workshop featuring eleven UCI alumni all working in scientific industries outside of academia.  Our keynote speaker, Dr. Thomas E. Shenk, presented a talk, “From the academy to biotech and pharma”, that touched upon his view of careers in the private sector.

Following the keynote address, a panel discussion featuring our keynote speaker and four UCI alumni was presented.  Dr. Ronnie Hanecak, the Senior Director of Licensing at UCI Applied Innovation was the panel moderator.

The event concluded with one-on-one table discussions with seven additional UCI alumni who were available to all attendees on a one-on-one basis to answer questions or inquiries.  This opportunity also allowed for participants to make new professional contacts for future career opportunities.
